Asilah City Pictures

Asilah morocco
Asilah is a fortified town and fishing village, on the coast of Northern Morocco, and not far from the city of Tangiers. The fortifications and walls you see today in Asilah were built by the Portugese and during the 18th and 19th centuries Asilah was largely used by pirates.
It has however previously been home to many other groups throughout the ages due to the town's natural harbour- Byzantines, Romans and Normans to name a few.
the town itself dates back to 1500 BC, and its gate works and ramparts still remain today thanks to a large restoration project of the whole town in the late 1970.
The main coastal road from Tangiers leading into Asilah now boasts several apartment complexes and hotels which are largely used by tourists, looking to visit Paradise Beach, or enjoy one of the town's many cultural festivals.
